Photography is another great love of mine. I got my first DSLR over a decade ago and have been teaching myself ever since (though now I’m a mirrorless man). Most of my photos are from travel and sport matches, but I do try to capture the odd street photo with my iPhone.

One Thousand, Seven Hundred And Ninety Four
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) “The anxiety you’re describing is born from a desire to know the unknowable. You would have precise – and beautiful, for their precision – integers assigned to pointless quantities, such as the passel of cars parked in this garage. It’s not that you want […]

They Would Be Expecting Her
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) The ship was bobbing in a way that wasn’t aimless but struck her as incorrect. She had set out on a path and ended up here without wind or purpose. It didn’t look like the place she had imagined when she set out. She […]

The Gentle Hush Of The Hybrids
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) The only sounds were those made by passing cars: the gentle hush of the hybrids, the hissing growls of the buses, the thunderous syncopation of braking trucks. My Usual Table at Wheat Cafe
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) This is one of my favourite spots to read: my usual table at Wheat Cafe. It’s just downstairs from the day job and the ham & cheese toastie is on point (don’t forget the mustard). I’m still reading The Corrections even as I keep […]

Nostalgic For A Place I Have Never Been
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) The signal changes but I’m not on board. The train moves ever forward but I remain standing. At the end of the line friends will meet at a cafe and enjoy the breeze that always rolls through the suburb at four o’clock but the […]
