Photography is another great love of mine. I got my first DSLR over a decade ago and have been teaching myself ever since (though now I’m a mirrorless man). Most of my photos are from travel and sport matches, but I do try to capture the odd street photo with my iPhone.

My Whole ‘Old Gold’ And Blue Heart
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) #1 Kansas 63 #11 West Virginia 74 The last time West Virginia defeated the top-ranked team in the land was February 1983 – 17 months before I was born. This makes today’s victory a once in a lifetime (so far!) event and I’m enjoying […]

Uncooperative In Nature And Art
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) I hated this tree. It was uncooperative in nature and art; disagreeable in temperament. I had a sister once that behaved the same way. I still do, I guess, but we don’t talk anymore so past tense strikes me as being more appropriate. Cooperation […]

A Steaming Pulse That Is Undetectable
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) It was only after he crossed the river into the open country that he realized how much heat was pulsing below the asphalt veins and arteries of the city. I Felt Bad For Not Liking Them
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) For years I allowed the world – or, worse: my idea of the world – to define me. My sense of self came not from within but from the people around me; people I didn’t understand, couldn’t trust and some of whom I just […]

At certain milestones of age as a number and ageing as a process he was prone, as so many are, to take stock of his achievements or lack thereof. At any given time […]

I Knew How To Make It Go Away
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) Her eyes were raw and red as if she’d been crying for hours but there had been no tears even five minutes before. “Just… give me a second.” She gathered herself, mostly through blinking and staring at the floor again. When she started to […]

It Was Not Empathy
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Greg (@jimmygoodwords) Sometime in the last year he had discovered an obvious truth that had escaped him in his youth: adults are little more than children that have grown up and mostly learned how to cover up the insecurities that continued to plague them. Some use […]
